The White Album in Colour
I got really excited last year when one of the best albums by The Beatles was remastered and reissued. After the marathon technological achievement of Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band the Fab Four decided to go back in the studio and record in a back to basics way.
After a meditation break in Rishikesh in India (where most of the songs for the new album was written) they went back to Abbey Road and made one of their most experimental albums.
It struck me as I listened to the reissue of the album just how fresh and new it sounded and I wanted to paint a quadriptych of the band to give the old images a new life.
They are each painted on separate canvases of 1m x 1m and all fixed together, here's the results...
